Update

May 7th, 2018 at 08:19 pm

I do not have any financial news. I am still not even sure where we are at right now. My planning and budget has been wiped out. I am hoping since my husband has finally turned a corner that I can try to sit down and reevaluate.

We have had 3 ER visits, a DR visit, 2 Chiropractor visits, multiple RXs, and multiple other expenses with medical. Our computer died at home, someone stole our fire pit, an employee quit at our business, a flat tire, and I have some family drama. Sigh. I am trying to deal with it all. Trying to keep everything afloat. I know that it could be worse and I can handle it.

I just want to order pizza and buy a giant Dr Pepper and veg out on the couch. But the plan is to cook something for dinner and work on laundry for a few minutes. But I do want to go to bed early. Hoping for a good week. Smile

Yes, hang in there! And eating at home and getting to bed early sound like great ideas during stressful times. Try to focus on what is going right!

In this situation, you need to make temporary sacrifices to get through. Cancel the satellite TV and Netflix immediately. Are you on a contract with the cell phones? Look for a provider (MVNO) that is less expensive than the brand name carrier but uses the same system. As soon as you can switch, do so. What would happen if you dropped the vision insurance temporarily? Can you make do with your current glasses and/or contacts for a year?

Cut your electricity use as much as you can. Turn lights off, don't use the A/C, unplug everything that is not in use. Same with the water. Only do full loads of laundry and dishes, take short showers, cut back landscaping water. Every dollar counts!

I agree about dropping phones and TV. You’ll pay less in cancel fees that you will observing these long drawn out contracts. Just eat the cancel fees and be done with them.

Good idea to get to bed early...in stressful times like these, a good night's sleep is so important!

Don't give up! You'll get things figured out! Planning meals, eating at home, and getting rest are all good!
